BRINGING THE GOSPEL TO THE DR –

Earlier this summer, a dedicated team from Lakeview Church traveled to the Dominican Republic to minister in Redemption Village, a vibrant yet underserved community primarily made up of refugees and families displaced from Haiti. This mission was born out of a deep desire to serve those on the margins—physically, spiritually, and emotionally. Throughout the trip, the team provided hot meals, played games and activities with the children, and distributed Bibles to the local community. For many in the village, receiving a Bible was a sacred moment—an encounter with God’s Word that offered hope, comfort, and a sense of belonging in Christ. (In fact, many came to Christ during those encounters!) Each game played, each meal shared, and each Bible distributed was an expression of love meant to show that this community is not forgotten.

Under the leadership of Rick Sucher and the amazing team at Missionary Ventures, Lakeview’s group was also able to carry out several meaningful service projects that will have a lasting impact. One major initiative involved building sturdy tables for local Bible schools, providing these growing adults with a functional space to learn and grow in their faith. Another powerful moment of the trip was pouring a concrete floor for a local family who had previously lived on a dirt surface. This seemingly simple upgrade significantly improves hygiene, safety, and overall quality of life for the household. The team also participated in door-to-door evangelism, walking through the village and taking time to pray with families, listen to their stories, and share the gospel of Jesus Christ. These conversations often led to moments of deep connection, prayer, and spiritual openness.

Overall, the mission trip to the Dominican Republic was more than just a week of service—it was an opportunity to embody the hands and feet of Jesus. From lifting children into their arms to lifting buckets of cement, every act was fueled by the love of Christ. As the team returned home, their hearts were full, knowing that seeds had been planted, lives had been touched, and the kingdom of God had been advanced one relationship at a time. Lakeview is deeply grateful to Rick Sucher and Missionary Ventures for their partnership, leadership, and heart for the people of Redemption Village.
