Why Local & Global Missions?

To lead Lakeview’s congregation in fellowship with God to go from our local community to the remotest parts of the world toward fulfillment of the Great Commission.

Our Global Missions

The final words of Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew are known as the "Great Commission." In Matthew 28:18–20, Jesus commands His disciples:

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…” (Matthew 28:19, ESV)

The term “nations” refers to not just countries with boundaries but distinct people groups. At Lakeview Church, we believe the Church is God’s chosen instrument to fulfill this mission.

Jesus also said:

“And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”
— Matthew 24:14 (ESV)

This shows that the completion of the Great Commission is directly connected to Christ’s return. We want to align with God’s heart for the world by actively participating in this global mission.

At Lakeview, we partner with God to help finish the task. We support missions that bring the good news of Jesus to unreached people groups, make disciples that multiply, and plant multiplying churches. So far, we’ve helped build 10 churches in countries like Nepal (5), South Sudan, Myanmar, India, and Guatemala. We also support ministries that train indigenous pastors and send workers to areas where Christ is not yet known.

Our Local Missions

While we are committed to reaching the nations, we also recognize the great need in our own community. At Lakeview Church, we are called to be a light both globally and locally—right here in Tampa Bay and throughout the United States.

We invest in individuals and organizations that lead people into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and seek to make a lasting gospel impact in our neighborhoods, schools, and cities. Our local mission efforts reflect the same heart as our global ones: to see lives transformed by the gospel and disciples made in every context.

Our Street Team

Jesus met people where they were—and so do we. At Lakeview Church, our Street Team exists to bring the hope and love of Christ directly to our neighbors. Through conversation, prayer, and tangible acts of kindness, we share the gospel in everyday moments and on everyday streets.

We believe God moves when we step out in faith. One doorstep at a time, we seek to make Jesus known in our local community.
